Working with a customer in the Oil and Gas industry, we were invited to assess a piece of their own legacy in house test equipment for CE marking conformity. We spent time on site with the stakeholders for this equipment and fully assessed both how the unit had been designed and the way in which it was used. From this assessment we produced a full report detailing both the situation as it stood and the actions required for full compliance with a fixed price to deliver those actions.
Since then we have updated the design appropriately, performed relevant EMC tests in accordance with EN61000 and 2004/108/EC at one of our partner test houses, performed risk assessments on the equipment, created a comprehensive Technical Construction File and drafted a Decleration of Conformity for our customer to issue and to allow a CE marking label to be applied.
Before After
Following a corporate decision, an Aerospace electric motor manufacturer requested us to review all of their production machinery and test equipment with a view to CE marking all equipment to meet the current regulations. We were able to quickly place knowledgeable engineering staff on site to carry out a survey of their equipment and practices. From this we identified which equipment needed modifications to meet both the Low Voltage Directive and the Machinery Directive, and helped our client to put in place a managed inspection and maintenance regime. By writing Operating Instructions and improving safety barriers as well as deploying better signage, our client was able to update his manufacturing facility to meet the current required standards, without having to carry out any expensive certification testing.
